Tooth Color Fillings/Bonding

Tooth colored fillings and bonding are enamel like material made of resin composite that can be directly placed on teeth to preserve the color and shape of natural teeth. Whether it is a chipped tooth caused by trauma or a hole in the tooth caused by cavity, tooth colored fillings are the most cost effective and conservative treatment that can be offered at Forever Smile Dental Care.

About Bonding

Bonding is the application of a composite resin to repair, reshape and strengthen an existing tooth that is broken, chipped, discolored or misshaped. Only an artistic cosmetic dentist such as Dr. Shelyan is capable of sculpturing a natural tooth to mimic the style, look, size, color and shape of a patient’s existing teeth. This procedure is also often used to fill gaps between teeth or to fill a small chip as a protective alternative to a filling.

The Procedure

The procedure starts with Dr. Shelyan matching the color of the bonding material to your real teeth. Then he scuffs the exterior of the tooth to be bonded before applying a conditioning liquid to help the bonding material adhere to the tooth. The resin mixture is then applied to the tooth, shaped and polished, and dried with an UltraViolet light. Dr. Shelyan will then further shape and polish the tooth so it matches all others as closely as possible.

In just 30 to 60 minutes, you will emerge with a new, perfect-looking tooth. If you need more than one replaced, your dentist can almost always do that in one sitting, as well.

Tooth Care

Once you have your new tooth, it’s important to keep it clean to minimize staining and ensure their health. Consequently, you should brush your teeth often and get them professionally cleaned as often as needed. In addition, be very careful what you expose your new tooth to in the first couple days after the procedure, as such substances as coffee, tea and cigarette smoke can stain it permanently.

If you decide to have your teeth bonded, make sure you do your research. Forever Smile would love the opportunity to earn your trust and demonstrate our expertise in all manner of dental care.
